Does Uber hire any Anglo’s born in America?
I’ve had plenty in my limited use of Uber.
I drove for goober for a week. Long enough to figure out goober is the only one making money. Min fare of 5 bucks. 2 goes to goober for the (un)safe rider fee then they take 25% of the 3 bucks leaving the driver with less than half the fair. The bulk of rides I ended up with were min fare runs.
My experience with the company leads me to believe that it is as much a multi-cultural normalization scheme (Request a ride and meet an exotic foreigner today!) as it is a transportation service.
I've used the service here and abroad (France and the U.K.); it is rare to get a driver who is native to the area. Most are recent arrivals and would be helpless without SatNav.
