5 p.m. update: The president of the Bastrop Senior Center has confirmed to the Statesman that
49 members of the center were on board a bus in Biloxi, Miss., when it was hit by a train
Tuesday in a deadly crash that killed four and injured dozens.An official from the center has been in touch with one of its members who was on the bus.
She was relaying information back to the senior center, the official said.It was unclear exactly how many people were on board the bus when it was hit. Earlier reports
said about 50 were on board while other pointed to less people being on board.The Bastrop Senior Center president said that 51 boarded the bus on Tuesday, but 49 were on
board the bus when it was hit.Fifty-two people signed up with the senior center for the trip. One person left the group
after becoming ill.Some were from Bastrop, others who came in from Austin and some who were picked up in Sealy,
according to Barbara Adkins of Bastrop Senior Center.end snip
