I don’t follow this closely, but my understanding is if you make a CC purchase your data can be analyzed via the Dodd Frank financial legislation. They may strip your name out of the data, but they provide bulk data to researchers. At election time this is data is likely to be valuable. Just like DNS pings on servers..
