Why is Assad’s survival any of our business?

This scenario keeps replaying over there, and many of us are tired of it. The neocons and HRC were the ones who wanted to be rid of Assad. Trump did not campaign on that, nor on Russia bashing - the opposite actually.

Assad's survival is what Russia wants. The destruction of ISIS is what we want. You seem to miss the fact that neither Russia or Assad or going after Assad. It's similar to anywhere where the Soviets and now Putin fight an enemy. They label everyone they fight Nazis, and then go after everyone but the most vile enemy first. This is an old communist trick. Moderate socialists, monarchists, religious leaders, and all are suddenly Nazis. Likewise in Syria, everyone is ISIS who opposes Assad.

You can have him as someone you believe must survive; he is their socialist sovereign by right of birth. He did assist al Qaeda in make it's way to fight Americans in Iraq for many years, which makes him beyond the redemption of Putin's propaganda for me. I don't believe his survival will last without Putin's gun thugs. When ISIS center of gravity is destroyed, and Assad keeps dropping barrel bombs on market places, you can claim he's killing ISIS, like so many here do.
