Mosul is all but wrapped up. ISIS is exfiltrating, many are going to Raqqa for a last stand. It’s all part of shaping the battlefield and letting the enemy gather together.

You seem to understand what is going on. Why oh why are these objectives never surrounded and cut off so that no one can flee? Civilians, okay, but each person leaving is on foot through check points so that no “good” guys die by suicide stuff. Anybody / vehicles not leaving via checkpoints are eliminated. No questions asked. Why did they attack Mosul from 3 “sides” leaving an escape route for ISIS back to Raqua.
