Sounds like you have read the book “Silent Coup” by Len Colodny - an excellent and well-documented book. Yeah - Nixon was hood-winked by Dean, but the real coup was by the Pentagon.
Hmm - talking about the Pentagon and military promoting things to get Nixon out of office - that was due to internal conflicts iirc between Nixon and the State Department (Kissinger) going around the Pentagon on some things.
It sounds like Trump is facing similar power struggles with the FBI, the NSA(?) and all of the other alphabet agencies that have obama people in the top levels. One would like to think that in the USA that when the people have spoken (by elections) that the ruling class would listen.
I know that we have the “balance of power” or whatever it is called with the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches so wisely set forth by our Founding Fathers, but I wonder - did they ever imagine the power that all of these other, un-elected people would have? I suppose so as I’m sure Great Britain had their share back in the day - in fact I guess it is in the Declaration of Independence perhaps:
“He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.”
Oh yes, I did read “SILENT COUP” and a few other books about Mr. Nixon as well, besides some of the books he wrote. I also lived through all of it ( was truly cognizant of him and as I said, “followed” him...reading about him in the papers of the time and seeing him on T.V. ), so I have my own “eyewitness” recollections.
