I read the editorial, and was very heartened.
The writer either doesn’t know why Appalachia turned it’s back on Leftism, or, more likely, is lying, even to himself.
I like those kinds of lies.

I recall a statistic that showed a slightly higher percentage of college-educated men ultimately serving in the military than high-school-educated men...the Army rejected lots of men for various reasons.
I can remember when the people of Appalachia owned their own homesteads, grew their own food and enjoyed a degree of independence thar few today can understand. Then came LBJ’s welfare along with huge increases of property taxes for schools that drove them off their land and into public housing.
In 2016 a majority of West Virginias voters supported Donald J. Trump, and many expressed outright hatred of Barack Obama. But when I was last active in the states politics, in 1960...
Wow. THey have to dig back before the Mediacracy took control of the country.
Think of what the Mediacracy has pushed since then:
Destruction of the Second Amnedment
Destruction of the Education system
Destruction of individual responsibility (Great Society Programs)
Federal takeover of all building and manufacturing via the EPA and OSHA
Destruction of the right to free assembly and equal protection under the law (affirmative action and the imposition of anti-discrimination laws to private actors)
Roe v. Wade
There are lots more.
He has, in a way, completely discredited the actions of “progressives” of both parties for the last 56 years.
