There’s a reason why Trump kept Comey. Soon we’ll find out why, if it isn’t becoming obvious already.

I thought it odd at the time when Trump announced with no fanfare and hardly any press coverage, that he was retaining Comey as FBI director. It seemed counterintuitive. There were many here on FR who howled at that decision and thought Trump was wrong for not getting rid of him.

But I mentioned to a friend that Trump was a very smart guy and I was sure he had his reasons for keeping Comey on board that were not readily apparent to the rest of us at that time. I figured he had something up his sleeve to use Comey down the road for a reason.

Well, now we're down the road a ways and it sounds you're thinking the same thing. What is your take for Trump keeping Comey at the FBI? How does it fit in here? We haven't heard a peep out of Comey since Trump made his announcement to retain him.

Not arguing, just curious.
