The rest of the Republican Party needs to follow President Trump’s lead, not just on this issue, but in every confrontation with the Democrats. A big part of Donald Trump’s appeal is the fact that, unlike other Republicans, when the Democrats hit him, he doesn’t apologize, he doesn’t ‘walk it back”, and he doesn’t give in to the Democrats in an attempt to appease them and “get along.” Instead, when they hit him, he stands his ground, and hits back twice as hard as they hit him. The entire REpublican Party would do well to adopt this appraoch.

True. There is also strategy involved here. They’ve decided they want Session’s scalp and we already know they’re not going to get it because he is an honest and trustworthy man and perhaps to the chagrin of some FReepers, his Alabama style is non-confrontational and mor “aw shucks” than say, Chris Christy, who would have been pointing fingers and yelling right in their faces.

As good as that sounds to us, it’s the wrong way to play this game. The momentum is on our side, roll with it. Trump can raise his voice but let AG Sessions take one for the team if necessary, the play will be whistled dead, and the momentum will continue. Going on the attack over a non-issue like this would be a poor choice. After all, there’s nothing on the AGs desk yet for him to recuse himself from.

But by saying he will he has taken the high ground and set a standard that is far more transparent and ethical than his predecessors Lynch and Holder ever did. This will register with those who are warming to Trump after Tuesday night’s speech and they (independents, democrats and wayward Republicans) will see this as the kind of AG who respects the law so much that even a hint of conflict will be avoided.

Beleive me, this will work to our advantage in the long run.

There’s also a general ignorance about what Sessions actually did. They envision some kind of 1 on 1 meeting but when the facts come out everyone will hear that one of the “meetings” was a gathering of many Ambassadors where Sessions was present. And since no one has proof of what was discussed, we can assume he and the Russian Ambassador merely talked about their grandchildren.

The Republican Establishment has either been blackmailed or they are the biggest bunch of cowards & wimps I’ve ever seen. They bring a knife to a gun fight every fricking time. They need to shout from the roof tops that this is a deep state move. We need to hunt down these Obama leakers and send them to prison.
