“Seriously NEVER EVER make Russian women mad they will tell you what they think of you right to your face. We rent our guest house to a Bulgarian woman, she is a sweetheart, but she says that she has a temper LOL”
When I was young my family had a restaurant. One of our waitresses was Marta, she had escaped the USSR and was very happy to be in the US. This was the early 70’s.
She told a story about her car with a dent in the back left side:
‘I always vant a new car ever since I come to America. I tell my Husband I save up and buy new car.
‘He says: ‘why you vant new car? You just wreck it.’
‘I say: I vant new car. I never have new car.’
‘He say: ‘You just wreck it.’
‘I save up and buy new car. I love new car. One night backing up I hit telephone pole I do not see. I see damage and I cry.’
‘Next morning my husband sees car and says: ‘I told you you wreck car!’
Marta looked at us, squinted her eyes and said: ‘First time my life feel kill!’
I met a former Soviet military officer when I worked for the DIA several years ago. The KGB found out that he had Jewish ancestry and put him out of their Air Force. He was able to immigrate here through Italy with his family. Once he established permanent residency here, he wanted to purchase his very own firearm. I took him firearm shopping in Cincinnati and he purchased a model 27 S&W .357 magnum. It was the happiest day of his life.
