Is February 28, 2017, 'The Night the Democratic Party Died'?
PJmedia.com ^ | February 28, 2017 | Roger L. Simon

I was once a Democrat. In those days, I thought I was on the team of truth, justice, and the American way. It was fun to be a Democrat then. But... Bye, bye Miss American Pie. Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry. I woke up.

I'm no longer a Democrat (it's been many years now), and though on the rarest of occasions I worried I'd made a mistake, Tuesday night watching the shell-shocked faces of the Democrats on the floor of Congress while Donald Trump delivered his magnificent speech, I knew I had made no error. I even wondered what was going on in my head in those isolated moments I doubted myself.

The Democratic Party members watching that speech looked like a party of the living dead. They didn't know how to react. They didn't know if they were Americans. They didn't know who they were.

Every time Trump called for bipartisanship for the good of our country, they winced. They couldn't stand it and didn't know how to react because they are the least bipartisan people in the world and they scarcely know what cooperating is. Working together is not in their natures. Yes, they talk about it endlessly but they never do it. (See: the history of the Soviet Union) Maybe it's not in their DNA. (I should check mine.)

We must learn to put our confidence in the Lord who delivers the willing.

“Oh, you poor, stupid, little moron.

I know how your mom felt. When Obama was running in '08, my grandson was being pumped up in his school about how wonderful it would be to have a black president. He was so enthusiastic about it I just wondered where this kid came from.

Those crudbuckets have no right to mess with kids’ heads like that.

The Dems are the herpes of political parties. You think they’re gone and then they flare up again.

To Democrats bipartisanship is the GOP bending to whatever the Democrats want, like what has always happened in the past.

“Perhaps they lie in their coffins, staring at the blackness, awaiting the day when they are once more unearthed. Even decades or centuries later. Hell, don’t you watch the SyFy channel?”

It’s not science fiction. Read “Dawn to Decadence” by Barzun, and the pattern is clear.

Especially because there are so many Democrats in R jerseys hiding on our side doing their best to advance progressive goals.
A whole lot of Cantorizing needs to happen.

Gang of Amnesty voters first, Corker, Heller, Hatch and Flake.

Never forget that our opponent is the party of Saul Alinsky.

The old party died and is replaced by something much worse. I do not take for granted their ineptitude and insanity. They are the enemy of this country and are determined to destroy it. They will go dormant for eight years if need be while the Obama regime in exile, Clinton crime syndicate, RINOs,Soros sycophants, welfare parasites and plantation holders etc. hold down the regressive message until they get their next messiah who will probably be another radical “minority” or slick white guy. Our time to get things done is now or the liberal vengeance will be brutal.

“’Tis why I like Pence, so far. Calm, professional, and conservative. We’re in the middle of a hurricane right now, and while Trump is a good man to get us through it, we’ll need someone like Pence to take the wheel when it’s over and maintain the gains made by Trump’s administration. “

I agree. The best of our leaders, like the worst, have power on only a temporary basis. Some of their legacy lives on through their federal court appointments, but after that it is hard work. As we learned with Reagan, if you don’t pick the right guy as your Veep (or some other natural successor), most of what you do turns to garbage pretty quickly. I remember Reagan vividly...but he wouldn’t recognize this country under Obama.

Trump should restore a lot that we’ve lost, but it is up to US to keep electing people like him to run things. If he is right, and I both think that he is and pray that he is, then he is merely a messenger for a movement among the people to restore government to its rightful place in our society - as a SERVANT of the people, NOT its master. But it IS up to us - we first have to complete the regionalization of the Dems, but simultaneously decimate the ranks of the Republican insiders/RINOs - people who might as well be Dems except for the letter after their name and a bit more fiscal conservatism. People like Collins, McCain, Grahamnesty, Bob Corker, John Cornyn (my guy, who becomes conservative every 6th year, much like a locust emerging from the ground to breed).

NEVER rest on your laurels - we did that after Reagan, and we got Clinton shortly thereafter, followed by RINO Bush and then the anti-American utter disaster who must not be named. ALWAYS play like you’re behind, and never forget the nature of politics and politicians (which is, in both cases, to rule over people).

Aunt Nancy did not look good last night.

Whether it was the white outfit or the lighting, who knows, but she did not look good. Like a gaunt and confused heroin addict temporarily adorned in nice clothing for a family picture.

You'd think they would have them all dress in purple, the "de facto" color of opposition to the Trump Administration.

Yes purple is the color of royalty and that's certainly how they view themselves.

Its John Tyler Time and the Democrats are the new Whigs—The Whig Party never elected another President after Tyler—they groned on for a few decades but they had “jumped the Shark” as the say in Hollywoodtown and would be replaced. The Democrats are faced with two paths they must walk: 1) The one marked Obama-Clinton to become a party of the Non-White “People of Color” and the two coasts—and lose election after election —until the GOP makes a mistake and I don’t think Trump will give them the Opportunity. or 2) the path marked JFK/LBJ and restructure to bring back the Union voters and Middle Class. With each success Trump become less a cartoon and more a President commanding respect. Efforts to hold to the election made cartoon will make the Democrats look more out of touch than they are.

I’m THOROUGHLY enjoying reading posts on lib leaning sites that warn their fellow Commies.....DO NOT DRINK THE KOOL AID!!

This tells me that Trump is WINNING over middle of the road Dims who are getting sick of the obstruction and lies (their platform).

There certainly has been a sea change, and neither the Democrats NOR the Republicans know what to do next. It shows, too.

They are literally overwhelmed!

Great commentary.

Money line:

” Yet, it is becoming increasingly obvious that if anyone does anything for the inner cities, it will be Trump the builder, not the Democrats who had a chance for fifty or sixty years and did nothing. Bye, bye, identity politics.”

President Trump knows how to get EVIDENT results, and if you live in the inner cities today, you will SEE and FEEL his results, and that will be passed down for a few generations.
