The lady calling in right now said she thought they were disrespectful, especially the three women in white who didn't stand up during the applause "for the man who died." She didn't recall or understand it was Justice Scalia; and to me, that illustrates the difference between the political class and the average citizen. She may not have known the details, but was appalled by the lack of common decency. I'm with her on that.
This is one of the reasons why the political class sneers at Trump. He is manifestly capable of speaking in cultured tones; I've heard him doing it on video in past testimony before Congress, for instance. But he has learned to speak to the average American, to people who know the value of hard work.
