Democrat Brianna Wu claims that Moon valuable militarily because rocks have power of 100s of nuclear bombs
A transgender-issues activist and Democratic candidate for Congress says the advent of the space tourism industry could give private corporations a frightening amount of power to destroy the Earth with rocks because of the Moons military importance.
Brianna Wu, a prominent social justice warrior in the Gamergate controversy who now is running for the House seat in Massachusetts 8th District, suggested in a since-deleted tweet that companies could drop rocks from the Moon.

Yes it was.
Perfecto
IF it makes it through the atmosphere
what are they feeding people in Mass?
;-)
Maybe we need to have a UN Resolution that Palestinians be banned from the Moon.
“Read The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert Heinlein before you make fun of the idea.”
That’s the first thing that came to my mind as well!!!
The non Chinese person is also not a woman. Born John Flynt
Not gay trans
Precisely
You need to launch not drop...again he is so stupid he tries to pass as female and Chinese. Pure delusion
I have another theory from working for a company for 20 years with 500 warehouses across the USA and a fair amount of travel
There is a temperature range for optimal operation of the human brain. Some states have climates where the temperature is outside this optimal brain operating temperature range for a significant amount of time during the year.
That explained to me why some other the people I worked with were not as sharp as others.
This moon bat is from Maine. Case closed.
Slight issues with targeting something with no way to correct plus atmosphere on earth does present clear challenge
Though not exactly the same scenario, the following excerpt from Wikipedia...
‘Carl Sagan, in his book Pale Blue Dot, expressed concern about deflection technology that any method capable of deflecting impactors away from Earth could also be abused to divert non-threatening bodies toward the planet. Considering the history of genocidal political leaders and the possibility of the bureaucratic obscuring of any such projects true goals to most of its scientific participants, he judged the Earth at greater risk from a man-made impact than a natural one. Sagan instead suggested that deflection technology only be developed in an actual emergency situation.’
...is, I think, a valid consideration.
Though I disagree with Sagans political stance I do agree that we have a high likelihood of misuse.
What would be the energy source for accelerating an object with the mass of an SUV to 7,500 fps?
“Call me when your trebuchet (or even your EMRail gun) can make 2.4 Km/sec”
I’m still busy winding the rubber band - will call when I’m finished!
PS I found this interesting discussion:

Especially the “it’s cheaper to go to Mars than the moon” bit:

It’s tougher to retaliate against an international corporation than it is against a nation. You could nuke China, but how o you nuke Amazon ?
There was some sex as far back as Glory Road, or even earlier in Stranger in a Strange Land, but it didn’t get graphic until the mid-70’s with the Lazarus Long stories and then Number of the Beast and Friday.
Yep, for a streamlined object the ballistics calculations would be trivial to hit any city you wanted to. It’s a long way, but the city is not dodging.
I prefer Door into Summer, but I have an engineer’s bent. That is the one I reread most frequently, with Friday a close second place.
