Barack Obama's attorney general Eric Holder says the former president is itching for a public return to politics.
Its coming, he told reporters Tuesday while discussing the new National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), according to Politico.
Hes coming, added Holder, whom Obama asked to chair the NDRC last year. "And hes ready to roll. [Obama] will be a more visible part of the effort.
Holder said he had discussed Obama fundraising for the NDRC and interacting with state lawmakers on the groups behalf with the former president. The former attorney general also predicted Republicans would shed state legislative seats in off-year elections in 2018 due to their partys control of the White House.
I expect well see that on steroids with President Trump, he said before criticizing Jeff Sessions, Trumps attorney general.
Holder said the Department of Justices decision Monday not to challenge a controversial voting ID law in Texas is disheartening.
It would be good to have the Justice Department on our side, Holder said of the DOJs tenure under Sessions so far. "It doesnt mean the argument cant be made, and cant be made well.
This is really a battle for our democracy, he added. "The notion that people are denied their ability to cast a meaningful vote is inconsistent with who we say we are, inconsistent with what we say our democracy is about.
Reports emerged Monday that Trumps DOJ will no longer argue that Texas intentionally sought to discriminate against minorities when it passed a controversial law on voting identification.
Mondays news ended six years of legal wrangling between the DOJ under Obama and Texas over the rule, which mandates voters must show certain forms of identification before casting a ballot.
Holder launched the NDRC in January with a focus on addressing issues with gerrymandering and creating new electoral maps to boost Democratic representation.
The NDRC plans on examining races in every election cycle through 2020, including gubernatorial, state legislative and ballot initiative campaigns.
The group hopes to produce electoral maps more favorable to Democrats by 2021, with the committees ultimate goal being to regain Democratic control of the House and Senate.
Looks like obama will have to learn the hard way - the parade has passed and he don’t mean sh*t anymore.
Those two and a dozen more like them are most welcome to continue exposing themselves. Climb that pole!
Let’s see you want to federalizing redistricting? No thanks...
“For real. Let him keep helping.”
Yup, there’s still a lot more seats for them to lose!
The racist Holder sent his goons down to South Carolina to start riots and attack people in Columbia back in 2010. They were arrested and prosecuted under the state’s anti-klan laws and faced 10 to 30 years in state prison for inciting racist riots.
Holder thinks he’s in a safe space in California, but he’s not. I expect the racist Holder to be arrested for inciting riots and sedition.
Treason is a capital crime. That makes them hempworthy!
While everyone here talked about Obama being stupid and lazy, he was busy seeding DC bureaucracy with countless unelected apparatchik loyalists at every level of government. We don't even know who all these people are. But now he's back in town, "ready to roll" and they're all in place to hobble the Trump administration.
There needs to be a massive purge.
I guess there’s absolutely nothing in all that was left behind by Holder and Zero that can be used to prosecute either of them. Of course, that’s really hard to believe.
How tacky...
Perhaps Obama’s itch is caused from something more serious than just to want to subject Americans to more of his obnoxious presence.
We really need to expose whatever truth there is about how he really is and where he was born.
Otherwise Obama and his ilk will be a real PIA to President Trump.
$60 million for a fairy tale?
Can you say “money laundering”?
I knew you could.
