For some 15 years, airport security has become steadily more invasive. There are ever more checkpoints, ever more requests for documents as you make your way from the airport entrance to the airplane. Passengers adapt to the new changes as they come. But my latest flight to Mexico, originating in Atlanta, presented all passengers with something I had never seen before.
We had already been through boarding pass checks, passport checks, scanners, and pat downs. At the gate, each passenger had already had their tickets scanned and we were all walking on the jet bridge to board. Its at this point that most people assume that it is all done: finally we can enjoy some sense of normalcy.
This time was different. Halfway down the jetbridge, there was a new layer of security. Two US Marshals, heavily armed and dressed in dystopian-style black regalia, stood next to an upright machine with a glowing green eye. Every passenger, one by one, was told to step on a mat and look into the green scanner. It was scanning our eyes and matching that scan with the passport, which was also scanned (yet again). Like everyone else, I complied. What was my choice? I guess I could have turned back at the point, decline to take the flight I had paid for, but it would be unclear what would then happen. After standing there for perhaps 8 seconds, the machine gave the go signal and I boarded.

I don’t do any international travel.
AMEN !
And if the name 'Dept. of Homeland Security' doesn't make the hair on the back of your neck stand up, something's very wrong.
GWB massively screwed the Constitutional pooch with this Orwellian fustercluck.
We already had ALL the .gov assets necessary to accomplish the anti-terror mission .. all that was lacking was the leadership with balls enough to cut the orders.
The Founders and I salute you, ma'am !
You postulated that we don’t know whether enhanced scanning at the airports has stopped terrorists or not. I’m telling you that the DHS has admitted it does not. Its not the reason they continue to step up the grope a dope. They do it to see how far they can push the sheep. Don’t be that guy. Take the red pill.
Ok so all airport security should be stopped? Or some stopped and other procedures not? Which is it? How would you conduct post 9-11 airport security?
Terrorists can easily take down a commercial air carrier with an RPG. How many man pads do you think Hillary ran to the Syrian rebels through the Benghazi CIA annex? So you can go through the retinal scanner and anal probe all day long and still get killed in a terror attack. There is no further reason for terrorists to try to take over planes with box cutters.
You are now trying to wed the immigration problem to airport harassment of average citizens. Its not even remotely related to Islamic terrorism.
How would I do it? Simply and effectively. Everybody goes through a metal sector and walks past a bomb sniffing dog. All Muslims get the pat down. Its called profiling.
Get rid of the TSA which saves 60,000 salaries and let the airports and airlines handle their own security. They will do a fine job.
Government needs to get out of the travel business. All they are interested in is tracking our every movement in the name of security.
Bottom line is if the govt is trying to do something to you its never ever good.
The biometrics are online so they can’t be changed. They don’t tamper with the picture. They just find matches. I have had two Mexican SIL’s so I have heard most of the tricks.
I see you’ve met F.R.’s “Timmy Tool”..... III
Snicker! :-)
Neither will I.
Yes sir, the slave mentality runs deep now.

Histrionics aside this was an international flight and the US govt DOES have the right to inspect all cargo and passengers coming in and going out.
Meanwhile, the border is wide open to illegals, and the gov’t actively imports hordes of jihadis.
This is not for safety.
I’m flying tomorrow and again next week. I do it because I have to, otherwise, I’d drive..
