I hate that this happened to these folks, but didn’t they have several days notice that flooding was highly possible if not imminent?
Seems like there was enough time to get your most valued possessions to higher ground...just in case

Not always. We're used to flooding and getting things up and out, but last August it came up so fast we had to leave everything behind.
I know and have seen that "look" on everyone here after August's flood. It's very sad.
