No one can convince me that "Moonlight" winning Best Picture was not Affirmative Action and political correctness. Me neither. How can they be satisfied with awards that were given to them based on tantrums?
There was good acting in Moonlight for sure but the movie never pulled me in and I, frankly, can't get invested - at least by the way the story played out - in a movie about drug dealers, gay or otherwise.
Lion, on the other hand, was screwed by PC. Far better movie hands down.

Also, I heard on the radio this morning that Jimmy Kimmel made some joke that fell flat about the best ending was in the middle of Moonlight, which was a gross reference to a handjob on the beach depicted in the movie. When no one laughed, Kimmel said something like “I guess no one saw the movie” (Moonlight). And this crowd voted it in as Best Picture, but few there saw it?

Me neither. How can they be satisfied with awards that were given to them based on tantrums? Hey, it works for university admissions, job hirings, lawsuits, etc.

I’ve not taken the “best Picture” award seriously since Annie Hall beat Star Wars.
No, I’m not kidding. That was a farce.

Lion is a terrific movie. It’s one of those stories that stays with you after it’s over. I enjoyed Saroo’s book, too.

“Moonlight” was about gay, black drug dealers? No wonder it won.
