Here's Why Copper Has Been Soaring"The election of Donald Trump brought with it bullish sentiment for Dr. Copper (so called because the price of copper reflects health of the global economy). Many commodities have responded positively since the election in the Trump rally that is, that the new US president will follow through on campaign promises to cut taxes, increase spending, and bolster economic growth. James Cramer Fool to bet against the market now 2/22/17There are a lot of positive factors:
- Earnings for Q4 2016 are up significantly.
- National Debt actually went down last month.
- Trump understands energy is a key driver of the economy. He will try to drive the price down reducing costs to businesses and consumers alike.
- Trump understands the importance of trade. And when Trade is good and when it's bad. Expect the end the offshoring act to restore some of the import tariffs and bring industries and jobs back to the U.S. More US jobs means more income earned and spent in the US economy. It also means more federal/state/local tax revenues and fewer safety net payments.
- Lower government deficits or even surpluses will reduce pressure on credit markets allowing rate to stay low. Which will help business expansion and even more jobs.
