This is one of four “cantons” of the Northern Federation. An end of the civil war may be in prospect.

No, the civil war is not over.

And the war with Turkey may be about to begin.

Have read Turkey rearmed ISIS and has them in the same general area. Wonder if that is why he wants financial help from Germany, to finance paying ISIS to do the job.

Turkey may be busting the cap. He may not like the consequences.

One caution, this source is pro PKK. It has been 199% reliable to this point. Have used it several times.

Read that the Turks killed 8 of them today with helicopter attack in the mountains. They are not squishy targets, they do shoot back.

For those who do not know, Afrin is in northern Syria in the autonomous Kurdish zone. It is NOT Islamist and its people have been allied with America in the war against ISIS. Islamist Turkey wants to try to seize this area (as well as many other areas in northern Syria) for Turkish occupation.

Islamist Turkey is expanding its war on the anti-ISIS Kurds who have been effective fighters against ISIS. Personally, I hope the Russians bomb the piss out of these Turkish invaders. They deserve that, IMHO.

Sounds like the meetings with Votel in Kobani and Raqqa today gave them the message we would contain those who assaulted SDF cleared area. Erdogan is attacking YPG and YPJ, part of the SDF.

He never was there to kill ISIS. He was there to take over Syria. With the help of Terrorists, not it appears with help of ISIS.

How long will this last?

“In prospect” does not mean “over.” It means that some lines are appearing on the map that might delineate the new Syria. This self-proclaimed breakaway region will be tested. But, as it is, Turkey is busted and Russia is over-extended. We’ll see what kind of fight Assad and his backers in Iran have in them. We’ll also see what the Trump decides.

Erdogan may be Islamist, but that Kurdish faction is Marxist-Leninist. Not sure if there are any good guys in this scrap.

Elements of the Kurds were/are?

Not the N. Syrian group. They are collectivist, but not globalist or totalitarian. There is a difference.

There are elements on the mountain that are different.

And in Iraq it is totally different.

I would rather trust the N Syrian Kurds. Have been following this for more than 2 years. Know some of them pretty well. I like them very much.
