JCP, like Sears, blew it for online shopping. I suspect they’re closing stores in rough neighborhoods with high losses, like WM has. WM, however, seems to be going much heavier into online sales for merchandise, and expanding grocery in the brick stores.
Bill Ackmen drove them in the ground. He had goofy ideas of a store within a store, no check out registers, children’s playgrounds, remodeling stores, and tokens for frequent shoppers. It was so bad, the interviewers were laughing at him.
