I don’t dismiss the emotion of this verdict, and if this was happening in the US, I’m not sure which side of the decision I would be on.

But, Azariyah arrived on the scene 11 minutes after the stabbing, well after the attacker was wounded and subdued on the ground after inflicting non-life threatening wounds on another Israeli soldier.

This does not sound like Azariyah acted in the “heat of battle” or felt his own life was threatened.

Am I missing something?

You are missing something. The attacker was moving, and he was wearing a coat. Many Israelis have been killed when a terrorist who is hiding a suicide vest underneath his coat presses a button that blows up the explosives and kills all of those people standing nearby. If the terrorist had been wearing a suicide vest he could have killed or wounded all of the soldiers who were there.

No, you are sane. Some conservatives feel the need to make super extreme pro-violence statements anonymously online. I guess it makes them feel tough or like they are doing something.
