NEW YORK (AP) -- Russian officials say its ambassador to the United Nations has died suddenly in New York City. Vitaly Churkin was 64.
Russia's deputy U.N. ambassador, Vladimir Safronkov, told The Associated Press that Churkin became ill in his office at Russia's U.N. mission and was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, where he died Monday. His cause of death wasn't immediately known.
Churkin has been Russia's envoy at the United Nations for a little over a decade and was considered Moscow's great champion at the U.N.

I can remember when Churkin was the Russian spokesmouth following the Chernobyl meltdown. That was the first time I remember a Soviet/Russian spokesman have such flawless English and not be dressed in a 1943, ill-fitting suit. He came across as quite the erudite and dapper spokesman, the last thing I expected from the Russkies in those days.

I hope the coroner will hold the body here for an autopsy.

Well, most Russians do die young. It’s due to their superior culture which they wish to extend to other nations that don’t have the benefit of a short life span.
It kills a lot of Russians. Hence their third world life span, third world GDP, and third world political culture.
