Perhaps the costs of campaigns will go down as people having to travel from state-to-state in order to vote multiple times is eliminated by voter ID and a purge of the dead and undocumented from the rolls.

Elections and tax cuts.

The two things that Democrats worry about the high cost of.

“FEC Democratic Member Ann Ravel Resigns Post — ‘I Couldn’t Stay’.”

That worked out well, Ann, because we didn’t want you to stay.

All of the remaining commissioners are considered holdovers and have been there longer than their six-year terms, she said. New appointees must be approved by the Senate.

What is this all about? I've not followed the issue, but this would suggest that the FEC appointment process has completely broken down. The commissioners are split 3-3 between the parties. The president makes the appointments, which require Senate confirmation, but the gentleman's agreement has always been that each party gets to sign off on its representatives.

What happened? My guess would be that Obama refused to appoint Republicans acceptable to the GOP, and that the Senate Republicans therefore blocked any appointments. Is that correct?
