My theory was always that it was supposed to be a Blind Sheikh for Stevens swap that went wrong..a few weeks prior there were rumors about the Blind Sheikh being released to Egypt as a “Good faith” gesture but the State Dept half ass denied it. When Benghazi went down I knew this had something to do with it
My theory as well...especially after watching all the hearings....but u never heard the press speculate on that...
they had to use Bergdahl to give them something in return for the blunder
