Illegal immigrants are not eligible. That’s why they start popping out kids here. The kids are all eligible and the illegal parents get the bet cards. If just one person in a family of illegals is legal they’re eligible for section 8. An American born baby is their bucket of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Legal immigrants sign papers saying they will not use public assistance. Since the different counties across the nation disburse the welfare the immigrants are not held to it. Some of the legal immigrants have sponsors that the paperwork says they will support them for five years. They’re not held to it either. If they’re legal the counties sign them up.
Refugees are a special breed they get instant, legal welfare for up to 7 years supposedly. I’m sure just like all the other requirements they’re not held to the 7 years.
I was an eligibility worker for food stamps and MediCal in another life.
So the American born baby is the key. I've heard there are all kinds of tricks for eligibility.
Went to the Washington Dept. Social Services once with my stepson and they handed me a two page paper, both sides, with things I might be eligible for. All kinds of things, aid to the blind, housing, emergency cash, . . I was amazed and it was as if they were trying to get me to take advantage of it.
Told them I was there with my stepson and they backed off. He did get some temporary help, but it was like pulling teeth for him.
Regarding refugees, another reason to put the kibosh on this Syrian/ME refugee business. If I'm a 'refugee' I get up to 7 years free ride right off the bat. Just great. .
