ATLANTA — Over the last dozen years I made 13 trips to Baghdad to lobby the government to keep CNN’s Baghdad bureau open and to arrange interviews with Iraqi leaders. Each time I visited, I became more distressed by what I saw and heard — awful things that could not be reported because doing so would have jeopardized the lives of Iraqis, particularly those on our Baghdad staff. and worse
I have discounted anything CNN reports for a long time. This story confirms my widom

The only interesting questions that remain is why they lie on a particular story.
When we know the answer to that question then we can begin to figure out the truth.
I do not doubt obama paid them to lie. But he wastes his money because they would have lied for free. They are reporers. That is what they do[lie].
In the 90’s CNN had broadcast team vans which sported license plates which were US government tags. I asked the road crew guy at the gas station why? He laughed and said “Do you really need to ask?”

This has all the hallmarks of a fake news story — no links to actual sources, an unknown “news” site, no credible corroboration, has been bouncing around the web with this bad sourcing, etc. — and IMO should be taken down from FR.
I appreciate the post but anyone who doesn’t realize that the MSM is a propaganda arm of the US government is delusional. This is old news.

Popular by whose account? That word popular has a different meaning in the Middle East than the West. Egypt, Libya,Syria, Iran were all popular protests to substitute one form of tyranny for a worse one.Having said that CNN, fake news central, still sucks and I have no doubt they would have covered up because it was the Obama administration and not Bush or Trump asking them to do so.
I can only imagine the kinds of quid pro quo deals CNN has to make in order to keep their broadcast licenses in many of the dictatorships and kingdoms around the world. If they don’t give freedoms to their local press why should we think CNN is any more open or democratic? It would come out in the form of self-censorship.
It is not a giant leap from that into the realm of pay for play reporting, or pay for not reporting. IMO they cannot be trusted not for just what they report but for what they choose not to report. And this extends to other big media companies too - look at the hoops Google and Facebook are jumping through just for China (with China still denying FB entree).
