California to get federal aid for Lake Oroville situation, January storms

California was granted emergency funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency Tuesday for both the situation at Lake Oroville and to help with the damage caused by the severe January storms.

It is most likely going to be funding for first responders who managed the evacuation, shelters that took in evacuees, etc. Most of the funding will reimburse local agencies and non-profits. No indication that any funds will be allocated to fixing the dam which is a state facility. And there are plenty of state bond funds available for any dam fix. Those whose homes or businesses were flooded may also receive loans, grants, etc.

They are entitled to FEMA reimbursement funds.

Fed Gov does not have to up front any money.

So let them haggle with FEMA over it.

Sometimes it takes years to get the money.

This is when I have my first doubt on Trump. Why not a DEAL for this money, we pay up front, but diverted internal sanctuary funding now pays the fund back. $25 billion!

The point that I was making is some dismiss all of CA as a liberal wasteland. There’s nothing untoward about federal relief to address the urgent need in the short term.
