Meh, valentine’s day is a joke. Its simply a day for flower shops and chocolate companies to increase sales.
And I am no liberal or muslim. I am actually a Christian that gets dumped as soon as I say ‘no sex before marriage’. So you know, not being part of the 99% of my age group may also be why I think this holiday is absurd. So few even know what love really is.
I want to hate Valentine’s Day but its hard when Mr. GG2 brings home a dozen roses at lunchtime and is taking me out to dinner tonight. LOL!
Because of my husband’s job we’ve gone out on Valentine’s once in almost 19 years of marriage. He also was so consumed by his job that the holiday (along with my nearby birthday) came and went unnoticed year after year. About two years ago the kids told him that he needed to get better at gifts,cards, etc and last year, when he was available on Valentine’s for the second time in our marriage, I had to work for the first time ever. Life is funny sometimes.
Not sure why, but I love Valentine’s Day. I do more for the kids every year than I do for my husband-probably because that’s who I always spend the holiday with. It’s fun to do little things for them that just take time, not money.
I love Valentine’s Day. Roses, champagne and chocolates... What’s not to like? :)
