I don’t quite get what just happened
but i’d be willing to bet this step wasn’t necessary.
Why does our side have to be so quick to fold?
I agree. I don’t see why he resigned.
He quit this one, but Donald gets to name the successor... the media doesn’t.
He could be back on something else, for all we know.
In his resignation letter he admitted to giving Vice-President and others in administration incomplete information (lied) and should have been more forthcoming.
“I dont quite get what just happened” - Me neither
“but id be willing to bet this step wasnt necessary.” - I’m with you there.
“Why does our side have to be so quick to fold?” - Several theories but one thing is for sure - we’re sick and tired of it.
Doing the right thing isn’t folding.
Flynn’s misstatements (presuming they were only that) to Pence gravely undermined his credibility, and that would have undermined Trump’s credibility. At that point, one might easily think he had to go.
But Trump and Pence were standing by him, apparently. Conway had just said he had their confidence. But something new was known about very shortly thereafter. NOW he’s fired.
Apparently he either lied that he told the VP about this discussion, or he lied when he spoke to the VP. At least that is what I think I heard about the gist of the issue.
But the real issue here is who listened in, who produced the transcript and who leaked it to the Washington Post. The administration has to get control of these leaks and quash the leakers. Quickly. An enemy within is much more dangerous than those on the outside.
