Homeland Security netted more than 680 immigrants in a new series of raids, Secretary John F. Kelly said Monday, saying they were standard enforcement actions that generally nabbed serious criminals.
Three quarters of those arrested in the raids — the first major announced action under President Trump — had criminal convictions, Mr. Kelly said.
He was responding to claims of immigrant-rights advocates, who said the administration was spreading fear by targeting rank-and-file illegal immigrants who have generally stayed out of serious trouble with the law, save for living and working here illegally.

That’s not entirely true. Omamba was counting many of those who were turned away at the borders as, “deported”.

That level is nowhere near enough. Even at 1,000 a day, which is only 365,000 a year, it would take 30 years to get rid of our accumulated illegals, not counting new arrivals or anchor babies. We pretty much need to deport at least 6,000 old illegals daily, plus 100% of illegal new arrivals, to make real progress, and even that would only be 8.5 million in the first four Trump years.
The difference is, presumably, no “catch and release”. They’ll actually be deported to their home countries.

Once people see there is no future here, and they will eventually be deported, a certain percentage will go home on their own steam.
Yup, the liberal media is pushing the fear that will start the self-deportations.....

I think you’re correct...I sure hope so because the “catch and release” was wide spread and was 0bama’s baby.
I would not call 680 deportations from a population of more than a gazillion “major.”
Those are the illegal aliens who haven’t yet been caught and convicted of other crimes.
They are committing other crimes, because they must to continue their illegal presence, they just haven’t been caught and prosecuted yet.
There are NO “otherwise law-abiding” illegal aliens.
Illegally working.
Using fraudulent documents.
Collecting benefits they are not eligible to receive.
That’s just a few.
