Spillway is toast. This shot was taken not too many hours after the one with the men inside the hole inspecting it.
Just saw a news report where one official said that if the dam fails at the auxiliary spillway end, we'd probably get a 30-foot wall of water moving downstream.
I'm guessing that means that if the main part of the dam fails... fuhgeddaboudit!
Whoa. That didn’t take long. I wonder how far down..and how far on either side the bedrock is located... read earlier reports of helicopter carrying rocks. That may do some good in some areas but I doubt they’d stop anything there. Prayers for those dealing with this.
Read a comen’s section on fb...at least one ranchers was taking count of his extra board/wire, etc. To make room for extra livestock due to evacuation. Heartbreaking...
Awful. Point is, there is nothing that can be done about it now. When things begin failing like that, it exits the realm of what human engineering, and the forces of nature and God take over.
Like a typhoon, tsunami, earthquake, or volcano eruption. All we can do is get out of the way.
Pray for those people.
