What Immigrant Advocates Want You To Do If ICE Agents Come To Your Door By CNN Staff February 11, 2017
'Know your rights'
The ACLU circulated English and Spanish fliers on social media instructing people in danger of deportation what to do if ICE agents come to their doors. Among the tips: "If they ask to enter, ask if they have a warrant signed by a judge and if so, ask to see it (through a window or slipped under the door)."
United We Dream, which says it's the "largest immigrant youth-led organization in the nation," also shared fliers on social media instructing undocumented immigrants how to interact with ICE agents and even fight back. "Get a trustworthy attorney & explore all options to fight your case," the flier reads. "If detained, you may be able to get bail -- don't give up hope!" Their fliers were made available in English and Spanish, along with Arabic, Chinese and Korean.
Have a plan
In the wake of the news, advocates also resurfaced a rights flier and ICE Raids Toollkit previously published by the Immigration Defense Project, which works for legal justice for immigrants in the United States. The two-page flier provides detailed advice on what an undocumented person should do if stopped by an ICE agent. Among the tips: "Don't lie or show false documents" and "remain silent."

...”Don’t lie or show false documents” and “remain silent.....
They are already felons when ICE comes knocking on their door. Lying to Federal agents are just ADDITIONAL felonies they would be committing that are MORE grounds to get kicked out of the USA.
Shouldnt this article be in Espanol?

No savvy???
“Does the Constitution grant the same protection for illegal aliens as it does citizens?”
Some of the enumerated rights seem to be restricted to “the people”, which could be construed to mean citizens (as in ‘We the People...’); other protections are worded as things the government can not do, which protects both citizens and non-citizens.
To be honest and candid, I’m tired of these ‘immigration’ threads.
They all have the same, now tired, stories of a few raids from earlier this week.
I want a BIG BLOCKBUSTER story and thread about hundreds of illegals racing through town to escape ICE, chased across the desert and breaking through the barbed wire fence as they successfully elude ICE, ending up on the Mexican side.
THAT would be a story.
Point me to one piece of advice there that is illegal.
"Don't talk and don't show any false documents" is exactly the legal advice I give to all my clients if the IRS comes calling.
Not exactly the same, but many constitutional protections apply to anyone found on U.S. soil.
For example, the Sixth Amendment says that "[i]n all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence" [italics added]. "All" means "all"; the "accused" is not limited to citizens.
These stories are great and need to be repeated as often as they can be. Here’s why: we don’t want to spend resources on deportations. Self-deporting is much more efficient. These sorts of stories being repeated all over the place will raise the discomfort level of those who are here illegally. Perception is reality and living on the run is no fun. Even if you really aren’t, but perceive you are.
So you think our law applies to the entire world?
So you think our law applies to the entire world?
14th Amendment speaks to any person
No, but the Constitution's prohibition on the Government compelling self-incrimination applies to any interrogation by the federal government on American soil, regardless of who is being interrogated.
Even better!
Get into the van quietly.
“Actually Canada does want them.”
Maybe we can start doing what the Mexicans do. Put together trains at the Texas Border and let the Mexicans just move from the train just in from Guatemala to our “new illegal immigration special” (to be seated on the tops of the cars naturally), then off they go to Canada’s nearest POE. The neat thing is that this time of year it’s “inhospitable” to be riding on the top of a box car in our northern tier of states. Maybe they can sing “Oh Canada” to keep warm.
If Jerry “The Fairy” Brown had any smarts he’d go for deportations because otherwise he’s going to have to build a lot more highways. Having eight years of Ahnold the Awful followed by 8 more of Jerry is like having 8 years of Boosh followed by 8 years of Obola.
Then there is no reason for them to be here.. ship um north if it’s closer.
