IIRC wasn’t it about the mid ‘90’s there was a sarin gas attack at a subway in Tokyo? Curious if the Iranians had anything to do with that.

There were a lot of sweeps coinciding with that. Shibuya, Roppongi, Ueno, and Kinshicho. They went through and grabbed every single foreigner. They were very quiet and very effective. I got caught up in one going through Shibuya once, but of course I am legal so I was quickly released.

I was living in Tokyo in the 90s and the muslim problem got really bad. Overstaying visas and multiple crime waves. Robberies, shakedowns on the street. They were re-booting depleted phone cards and selling them. The Ueno area was called ‘Little Tehran’. As their density increased so did their boldness.
One Sunday morning, just at daylight, every cop in the country (it seemed) shoulder to shoulder closed in on Little Tehran and grabbed every Arab looking person and processed them. If they didn’t have a visa on them or it was expired, boom on the plane they went! If any were accused of a crime, boom, away with them.
That afternoon, a walk through Ueno was wonderful. No trash, no thugs, no groups of hecklers goosing the uniformed school girls.
A friend left her purse on the edge of the fountain and went into the zoo. When we came out, hours later, it was still sitting there, untouched...
We need to do that here..
