I think after such a trip, their "high horse" attitude will change in no time flat because they'll personally experience a world many of them have never seen. Indeed, Michael Medved in his autobiography Right Turns specifically said his many hitchhiking trips across the country in his younger days was instrumental in turning him from doctrine Liberal to Conservative, because he saw people that many of his fellow Yale University students (Medved attended Yale for several years) have never experienced.

That would not work. I guarantee that their “agents” under guise of protecting their “commodity (i.e, star!)” would arrange a very “Potemkin Village “ tour. These “stars” would either meet local vetted like minded “beautiful people”, grade B & C actors looking for “breaks” playing scripted common folk roles for the stars to meet or “hand selected” local “colorful folks (like the Honey BooBos, the ‘Whites of Logan County’!)” who will be paid not to break stereotype.
Goal will be always to control the narrative & the presentation.
