I totally agree with you, SamAdams, that statement above by the other poster is illogical. His tirade against our Japanese friends is uncalled for, and actually betrays a skewed and narrow perspective of the trajectory of history.
Thanks. With regard to my comparison with blacks vs whites, it was even later than WW2 when Jim Crow was still in place in the South. I do not appreciate being held responsible for Jim Crow just because I am a white man. I did not support it, I wasn't around for it, and I'm glad that it no longer exists. I'm sure that the vast majority of Japanese people similarly did not support their nation's actions in WW2 and do not appreciate being held responsible for something that they weren't around for and didn't support.
To do otherwise would be to legitimize black rage against whites for Jim Crow, slavery and other injustices done in the past. If we are unable to move past history, then we are doomed to always be at each other's throats.
