Now that some of Hollywood is being bought up by Chinese multi-billionaire Wang Jianlin (est. $32b), perhaps someone should whisper in his ear that celebrities mouthing off about politics could be “bad for business”, and that it would be legal for him to include STFU contract clauses in their contracts.
Jianlin currently owns Dick Clark Productions (Golden Globes and the Miss America pageant), the AMC movie theater chain as well as Carmike Cinemas, Legendary Entertainment movie studio, and the company that stages Ironman Triathlons.
And Jianlin wants so much more. He even offered to buy Viacom and Paramount, but they turned him down.
Importantly, he could also be very influential to the other companies that own large parts of Hollywood, that it would be to their advantage as well to get their stars to “put a sock in it”, if they wanted to keep working.
China did so well with clothing and toy and pet food manufacturing. Can’t wait to see what they do with Hollywood.
