That’s very interesting. I’d like to find out more about that. If it was indeed kept and stored, then that would lend more credibility to the Maccabees account of Jeremiah taking the Ark and hiding it.

According to 1 Kings 8:4, after Solomon had completed the temple:

"And they brought up the ark of the LORD, the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up."

While it doesn't say explicitly that the tent of meeting was placed in the temple, I think it's reasonable to assume that if they brought it along with the ark and the holy vessels, they also placed it in the temple along with them.
