OCKVILLE, MD (ABC7) A 31-year-old man told police he entered a secure apartment building, broke into a second floor apartment and tried to rape an unsuspecting woman all because he was horny.
Tedros Ishetu, of Silver Spring, is facing criminal charges of attempted first-degree rape, home invasion, second-degree assault and false imprisonment.
Managers of the leasing office at Congressional Towers Apartment building tell ABC7 that a letter will be sent out Tuesday to residents informing them about the incident.
On Monday, January 16, Ishetu snuck into the Congressional Towers apartment building, located along the 200 block of Congressional Lane. The seven-story building, which requires key fob access, is home to dozens of families in a predominantly Asian section of Rockville.
According to police, Ishetu walked through the lobby, rode an elevator to floor two and then entered an unlocked unit.
A 36-year-old woman cooking in the kitchen heard a noise.
When she turned around, she saw Ishetu with his finger over his lips, telling the woman to remain quiet.
Police say Ishetu attempted to cover the womans mouth, rip off her shirt and drag her to the bedroom. However, the five-foot-six, 150 pound, attackers plans were foiled when the victim bit his palm, started to scream and escaped into the hallway.
Fearful of being caught, Ishetu ran away, escaping down an elevator coincidentally passing the victims husband and young child who had been playing outside at the time of the random attack.
Patrol officers caught Ishetu nearby. During an interview with a detective, the 31-year-old waived his rights and admitted to the entire incident: entering the unit at random, locking the door behind him, checking to ensure the woman was alone, and then attacking the woman, pinning her body down by the arms.
When asked why he did such a terrible thing, Ishetu allegedly told officers that he needed sex and was, trying to get some. He also shared that he didnt want to hurt the victim, but rather just rape her.
Despite his candor with cops, Ishetu, who has a significant criminal record in Maryland and Virginia, stated that he should not receive a lot of prison time because he had only committed an attempted rape.
Police say in his haste of fleeing, Ishetu left his black jacket and two unwrapped condoms beside the victims bed.
I am pretty shocked, said Ngoc Nguyen, who lives next door to the victim and takes care of her newborn son. I cant imagine. I would be like terrified and I dont know what would happen.
ABC7 spoke with more than a dozen building residents on Monday. Not one was aware of the violent stranger-on-stranger crime. Many argued that Montgomery County Police and apartment management should have informed tenants about what had occurred within the building.
I think they should have had a notice or something like that from the management, said Chenyue Wang, a husband with a young son. I just dont know how one can get in without anyones awareness and suddenly show up in the kitchen. Its very hard for me to imagine.
Ishetu remains behind bars in Montgomery County. His next court appearance is scheduled for later this month. He faces up to a life term in prison, plus an additional 35 years.
The original title started with ‘African “refugee” ...’
Usually when a mod changes a title there is a history record. Odd...
So why the secrecy about where the suspect came from or if he's a domestic? They know damn well what everyone is thinking.
About the same time disrespect became a verb.
African Refugee Breaks Into Womans Home, Tries To Rape Her
Shows that above...
It looks like the source was changed also. Originally it was ‘illegalaliencrimereport.com’ a url registered a couple years ago. I didn’t click through to the blog so don’t know what title it used.
It took until almost 50 posts for one of you idiots to finally post his photo..?
what is wrong??
is everyone here like 80 years old or something..?

They’re not saying, or someone omitted the wording, or the suspect is actually a domestic. I’d bet a cup of coffee he’s an import.
In a free state, Tedros Ishetu would have been ventilated by his would-be victim, and assume room temperature shortly afterward. In Commie MD, well, we have a rape victim, and the illegal alien scum will be able to do it again.
How do refugees with no money support themselves in Rockville MD one of the most expensive places to live on the planet?
Rape-fugee
Why is he still here?
tried to rape an unsuspecting woman all because he was horny.
By that she, or her husband, should be allowed to shoot his nuts off just because she feels like it.
Bi-polar Disorder. There’s his get out of jail free card. They’ll place him in treatment for a few weeks until he promises to take his meds and be out on the street in no time. His next victim might not be so lucky. Thanks goes to the ex-Terrorist in Chief and the feds for being lax in vetting.
Btw, the bold crime, the willy nilly confession, the suspects appearance, and his name, 'Tedros Ishetu' seem to suggest the suspect is possibly an import.
Oh yeah, with Trump in office it's now OK to talk about a suspects description. ☺
Btw, for those who might be unfortunate enough to live in something like this above, don't be fooled by their promises of security. It's mostly pure BS. And always lock your doors like this woman didn't.
When “mistaken” became the proper word for “lied.”
Ishetu = Ethiopian name origin.
Her husband and child had just gone outside to play, which is why the door was unlocked.
I know. That’s why I said, there is no security in these types of places and she should have locked her door. Those places are like hotels. All kinds of rif raf coming and going.
They share a long border. Somalia has sea access, easier travel
