Yes, you are correct on Putin’s motives.

It would be a no brainer if Erdogan was sane. He is not. And his arrogance will eventually devour him. I hope it happens before Turkey is damaged past repair.

His losses in al Bab are huge and the damage to the city is too.

Not sure how he will extract himself from that quicksand. Possibly as the Syrian army move further in, he will just leave.

Report is that he has lost 54 tanks there. And unspecified human loss. Combatant and non-Combatant.

And he has an election soon, but the opposition party candidates are all in jail.

Putin makes outreach to Kurds - will they see him as better choice for their than the U.S. ? ......................... I don’t see Putin as a major arms supplier for them, (Under the table via a 3rd party, maybe.) because he doesn’t want to upset the gas agreement with Turkey. Obumer, wasn’t going to go over board with aid to them other than some token help. The Kurds are a head ache to the Turks, Iranians, Syrians and Iraqis, and are being denied their own land, most likely because of oil deposits. Thank you Britain and France for carving up the mid east. I wonder if the political driven MSM would back accepting Kurds coming into the USA instead of the 7 banned countries?

It seems like we have long underappreciated the Kurds.
