As a movement to boycott businesses that do business with the Trump family heats up, Macy's is under pressure to dump Ivanka Trump's fashion brand.
With Nordstrom announcing on Thursday that it had decided to stop selling Ivanka Trump's brand, reportedly due to declining sales, customers have taken to Macy's social media pages to demand the retailer do the same.
"Nordstrom dumped Trump, please follow suit," reads one of many similar comments on Macy's Facebook page. "I would never put plastic Ivanka Trump boots on my little daughter."
@Macys I have cc for 15 yrs & spent 1000s. I will no longer b shopping at Macy's until every product w/ Trump is removed.#GrabYourWallet

One customer claimed she was told by a customer service representative that the company is in the process of dropping Ivanka's apparel and shoe lines. Macy's didn't immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
The pressure seems to be coming from inside the company as well. According to an internal source at Macy's, some corporate employees are uncomfortable with their roles selling and marketing Ivanka Trump's brand following the election of Donald Trump.
"Hopefully they stop," an internal Macy's source told Business Insider, referencing the company's declining sales. "They can't lose any more money than they already are."

They should keep the line. That way, their stores will be vermin-free.
ANTISEMITIC!!!!
Additional thought; Nordstrom is a publicly traded company. Buy a few shares and start raising objections that management is not acting in a manner to maximize profits and protect shareholder interests.
We don’t shop at either store and never will. Don’t shop at Starbucks either and never will.
Hmmmm.... but due to their decision their stocks are already going down so I’m not sure I want to help them out and anyway but it is Food For Thought thank you
“Macys has bigger problems than whether to sell the Ivanka line.”
The local Macy’s is closing in March. It used to be a nice store, but in recent years was completely mismanaged. I hope Hudson’s buys the leases of the closing Macy’s stores and uses them to expand into the U.S.
That’s true of most big stores. The support and subsidize almost every lib cause. Personally wherever I see ben and jerry’s at a store I move other brands to block them from view.
Wanna bet? Check with JCPenny before proceeding.
I emailed and will close my account right out with them....
I work at Macy’s. On a day-to-day, store-level perspective things need to change. Senior mgmt. is focused more on reaching high percentages in certain areas than creating a positive shopping environment.
Employees who should be on the floor cleaning things up, putting stuff back, helping shoppers, etc are pulled into price changing and markdown tasks. This results in stores where shoppers can’t find anything, clothes lying on the floor, racks overstuffed with merchandise, etc.
This is because there aren’t enough employees any more. This is because they are trying to sustain a dying model.
Macy’s is way behind other retailers in online shipping, as well.
Macy’s just closed over 100 locations and word on the street is this is just the begining. Not sure it’s a good policy to listen to thier detractors.
They had better think long and hard about it. They lost a lot of other business when they dropped the Trump brand. In fact that’s when their downhill slide really took off. Trump supporters have jobs and that means they have money to spend.
Kodak used to be a icon in Rochester, NY - they opted to start going "progressive" a couple decades ago - now they are defunct.
“”Do it Macys and Ill shred our credit card!!!””
Well, you and I have to be the only Freepers who still shop at Macy’s and I’m not about to shred mine. That was such a disagreeable thread last week about Macy’s and I took a thumping for defending them - the quality of clothing and prices that I have no problem with. Being retired I buy more casual clothing now but their women’s attire namely business suits couldn’t be beat when I needed them and can’t help but feel a little sad when I see them now and know it wouldn’t make any sense for me to buy them. They really are lovely...and I just have to go through that department to drool when I’m in the store!!
The criticism was mainly from a person who I assume is a man and said he hadn’t shopped there in 20 years but proceeded to tear the store apart. I don’t think I’d trash some store’s reputation and then admit I didn’t even shop there. He even thought I should take into consideration that no one else was defending Macy’s and change my mind.
Which I did promptly! LOL

Thanks for your inside insight. The brick-and-mortar retail model used to work when store employees were able to give personal attention and knowledgeable advice. You could always buy from the catalog if you didn’t need that kind of help. Both the number and quality of in-store employees has declined dramatically over time, so more people like myself opted for internet shopping.
I went to our local, closing Macy’s on Saturday to see if I could pick anything off the carcass before they turn the lights off. I found a pair of Dockers slacks in my size, and then had a difficult time finding anyone at the checkout registers. Finally, a group of us in the same situation got the attention of a guy who seemed to be a contract worker rather than a Macy’s employee. He didn’t know anything except how to scan the price tag and run the credit cards.
Fire must be fought with fire. A national conservative organization needs to organize a powerful messaging campaign along the lines of if you drop Ivanka’s line of products, we will put you out of business. Since everything is now political, the right must fight as forcefully as the left.
