Deputies told the station the person killed was 19 and was shoplifting diapers with three accomplices.
They were loading the diapers in a car when a Walmart employee tried to stop them, the station reported.
The shopper told deputies that he showed up at that point to assist the store employee.
...
Deputies said after the gunfire the four suspects drove off and smashed into two cars.
Three got away on foot. The one who was shot made it as far as a gas station across the street.
...
The suspect was later pronounced dead.

Crap heist....erh, crap shoot?
Man, that’s not a cool reason to die.
Stealing diapers. Wow.
Shooter will regret this.
Loading diapers to sell, I’m sure
Pathetic losers.
.
The headline sounds misleading after reading the news. Still, not clear what actually caused the gun fire. Did the four thieves have guns? Or other weapons? Did they fire a the Walmart employees and good Samaritan? Either way, one thief is dead, three are missing, stolen car recovered, maybe even the stolen diapers? Sounds like a good day, even better once the other three are captured—dead or alive.
It doesn’t sound like anyone’s life was at risk to justify the shots.
Still, it should send a signal to criminals.
Both true, I'm sure.
But I'm not sure either offense is worthy of death.
Turd degree burglary?
Yep. Not enough facts.
Dying while stealing diapers is really shitty.
LOL
It's also not a cool reason to initiate a sequence of events which leads to somebody shooting someone else.
Any time a crime is committed, this sort of tragedy is a possible result.
It's one of the reasons crime is such a terrible thing, and something to be avoided, something not to be committed lightly.
Think about all the lives that have potentially been devastated here, just because some thugs thought they could go around jacking someone's car, and then stealing diapers, of all things, for their "baby momma", or whatever the case may be.
Who grows up in America thinking that this kind of behavior is acceptable, or tolerable?
Any time you introduce criminality into the world, you should anticipate such outcomes. It's not a matter of "fairness" or "justice"; it's a matter of not sowing mayhem in civilized society.
Totally needless insanity, and now look what has happened. Just tragic and sad...
Hey, people need diapers, I’m just providing a service. Ya know?
What we have at this point is that the individual felt threatened one of the suspects reached for something [and he] thought that it was a weapon or firearm,
Depends.
It wouldn’t be surprising to me if the media puts out a sob-sniff story about some poor struggling new immigrant family that had a poor disadvantaged baby in desperate need of diapers but Donald Trump created a hostile environment for them so they couldn’t afford such basic needs so they had to steal blah, blah, blah..
