“The LAT is just a mouthpiece for unions and green interests.”

True. Leaders in California should invest in integral fast reactors, plasma recyclers, boron engines, building insulation and water reservoirs.

Focusing on one or two natural gas power plants is pointless, since there’s enough gas to heat every kitchen and furnace in American for 500 years.

LA Times just has a glossy paper to hide their failed politics.

Actually they very likely could need them, although if they do it will also be the case that fuel will be hard for them to obtain.

Actually, as far as obtaining fuel, that whole area is a gas field. They pump it practically straight up from below. Sutter county and Colusa county are next door to each other, and when I was in computer sales back in the day, I drove to Colusa from Yuba City to support customers. So it's not a huge distance. Before computers, I worked on the farms in the late 70's and saw the drillers out there.

Contrary to Picker’s assertion, critics say, customers aren’t aware that too much capacity means higher rates. “The winners are the energy companies,” Lynch said. “The losers are businesses and families.”

...

It’s easy to buy politicians and make money in CA because it’s a corrupt one party state.

So are most of us (too invested to move). This place really sucks a lot of the time.

After these rains, the pot holes on the boulevards here are like in third world countries. They’ll never get fixed but illegals get free food housing school and health care. Oh, and they vote.

Dammit, I disagree!!!! It’s not glossy. It’s plain and grimy with ink that comes off on your hands. It looks as sh*tty as it’s contents.

Independent power producers are wild catters, who didn’t realize that you have to be political to be in the business.

PG and E do realize this and their plants are protected.

However, for gross consumption being flat for nine years is a problem for the grid. Perhaps all those roof top solar systems have blunted grid consumption. In any event the nuclear plants are also shutting down.

totally agree, fake news from misregulated power industry! Calif was doing fantastically well with clean energy nuclear plants built to withstand earthquakes. The nihilists, destroyers, anti-industrial revolution leftists took over in a silent coup. Now producers are suffering. Consumers, too. I believe there is only one oil refinery left in Carson. Verdant fields made green with brilliantly constructed aqueduct system are fighting for water, dairies closing by the hundreds. Ayn Rand, who grew to adulthood while the left took over Russia understood their plan and method. She captured in fictionalized form in Atlas Shrugged. Snails have higher status over humans? Cow farts are causing ozone depletion? Fantasy? Definitely. But decades of anti-intellect education has enabled the nihilists to take over.

.18 cents a KW to pay for the gov’t pensions and boondoggles/ fraud like this in California.
Much cheaper elsewhere. Oklahoma is .0689 up from .0484 since 2015 More then 3 times cheaper then California. Why?!
