I lived in Bezerkeley from 1956 through 1968 and in a neighboring city until 1973. I know how these fools think and it is the main reason we left the state of my birth and the university where we are both alums — never, never to return. I lived through the “Free Speech Movement”, “The Filthy Speech Movement”, the “People’s Park Protests”, and the constant craziness. I’ve been accosted on the street, just for shopping with my small children. On, and on, and on.
There is another article on the Web today saying how conservatives living there have to hide their opinions for fear of attack, or job loss. We were back in Bezerkeley for a class reunion in 2000 during the Bush recount and attended several events where we couldn’t even find out the latest news for fear of being hounded out of receptions and cocktail parties just for asking what the latest vote count was.
We suffered through a Thanksgiving dinner with relatives where I had to lie and claim that my husband’s doctor had forbidden him to discuss politics because of serious heart problems. That did not restrain my mother and his sister (both retired public school teachers) from attacking him for not backing Sore Loserman.
Now, I’m watching cousins attacking Trump on Facebook. I’m sick of all these people and I really don’t care what they think.
