I suppose one could accurately represent a “deep red” district and STILL have an uncommon sexual orientation.
So long as the specific orientation does not become the all-consuming business of the representative, but is kept in the background without being thrust, literally, in people’s faces relentlessly, well, don’t ask, don’t tell.
Only Democrats politicize sexual orientation, anyway.
If it doesn’t impact policy or legislation it’s none of anybody else’s business.
