A Love of Hate: The Addiction of the New American Left
American Thinker ^ | February 4, 2017 | Pete Vanderzwet

"No Trump! No KKK! No Fascist USA!".

Damning. Morally righteous. A call to arms against darkness. This is how the new American left views itself and its opposition to President Donald Trump: a bulwark against a perceived tide of evil, where only leftists' pink hats and calls to #resist stand a chance to prevent a historic cataclysm from a caricature of an administration believed to embody all the elements necessary to be categorized as evil.

After all, didn't senior counselor to the president Steve Bannon openly admit that "darkness is good"?

Reaction to Bannon's quote exemplifies the emotional jockeying of Democrats and their supporters. Objectivity, reasoned analysis of source material, and primary research take a back seat when weighed against the desire to dislike someone if only to identify yourself to others as against what all normal people are against.

The former naval officer, who once served as an assistant to the chief of naval operations at the Pentagon, more fully stated:

Darkness is good. Dick Cheney. Darth Vader. Satan. That's power. It only helps us when they [the media] get it wrong. When they're blind to who we are and what we're doing.

In other words, when the media and its adherents so blindly and gleefully accept you as the totality of evil, it significantly raises your moral stock when you do anything marginally ordinary. They put you in a narrative where the standards are so low that you cannot help but succeed.

It seems to me that their anger has reached new heights.
Perhaps they also feel emboldened.

Reminds me of Prez Sleazebag who boinked Moana Lewdinski in the Oval Office. He was the Pres of "emboldened beyond."

Excellent article.

It presents a chemical theory as to why leftists are addicted to anger and hate.

I never want to identify with Satan, nor would I ever support anyone who does.

I don’t think it’s new. But I think it’s gotten to the level of what Stalin used against those whom he hated. I fear that if the Democrats are not successful in overthrowing this government, that if they win in 2020, there will be militant people who will start killing off their opposition. Democrat Brown Shirt squads, just killing without fear of arrest

Not really, perhaps their hate is more ridiculous.

Bannon’s statement was very stupid.

Never-the-less, liberals/leftists/anarchists/communists, etc, are the epitome of darkness. Always complaining, always making nasty false charges about anyone who dares to disagree with them, and the majority are anti-Christian to boot. when a group agrees to delete references to God in their platform, tries to force Christians to go against their consciences, and verbally and visually attack Christian symbols with glee - what else are we to expec4t that they are the one mired in darkness?

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.” The left rejects JC at their peril. Even if they do not believe he is the Messiah, they ought to admit Jesus gave us a upright philosophy of life that has raised people up, not down.

Drug addiction produces mental illness. Mental illness on the left is evidenced by appeals to morality among a group that rejects morality in favor of subjective truth.
A progressive will say, “My position is morally absolute whereas the moral opinions of Christians are personal and subjective.”
The source of progressive absolutes rests with the state which is only absolute when they are in control.
God can not be the source of authority since He does not exist. This makes any appeal to God a purely subjective opinion based on fantasy.

Yes, exactly, and since the “morality of the state” is only when they are in control, it is subjective.

All their screed boils down to is “Might makes Right”.

It seems like they are protesting the war in Viet Nam without there being a war in Viet Nam.
The 60-70 year radical leftist of the 60’s are symbolically, if not literally, passing the torch to the next generation of 20 something misfits. Many i wouldn’t be surprised are from upper middle class families.

Remember it was the left who called and referred to former Vice President as Darth Vader. He did not let it bother himself and dressed his dog up as Darth Vader one Halloween, if I recall correctly.

well you do train your brain by what you do with it.

but honestly it isnt anything more than socialists require conflict in order to use the dialectic to bring about their manipulated non-organic ‘change’. if there is no conflict, there is no change and they are sitting in the coffee shops masturbating. so they manufacture change by creating the conflict via praganda and fake incidents.

I think intense adrenalin-producing anger is addictive. Hooked on drama and rage they literally become dependent on that adrenalin rush in order to feel alive. Without it, they feel lost, bored, confused, defeated, which is their actual reality. Adrenalin is one of their drugs. By telling themselves they are pure goodness and all dark thoughts and deeds reside in others, their own unacknowledged “shadow” overtakes them without them realizing it.

“Democrat Brown Shirt squads, just killing without fear of arrest”

I think you've hit on an important point that has already arrived, which is “without fear of arrest.” Thankfully we haven't reached the killing phase yet. If you consider two Clinton terms, two Bush terms and two Obama terms, that's 24 years of liberals feeling empowered to lash out without fear of consequence. We are looking at over a generation of self-entitled, self-absorbed, morally “superior” individuals who have lived most of their lives with no fear of consequences for anything. Add to that the mayors, politicans and idiot celebrities promoting and condoning this garbage, it's no wonder that we are at such a dangerous crossroads in our country. These morons truly believe that truth and justice is on their side, and anyone who thinks differently is not only wrong, they are evil.
