Real Americans are trained, have their rifles zeroed and have plenty of ammo on hand.
We don't "polish bullets", unless we reload. A bullet is simply the projectile, although "bullet" is often used to refer to the entire round/cartridge. Linguists call this metonymy, where a part or attribute is substituted for the thing intended.
