I wish I could find it and I read it in the last week; it was an Iranian-American who wrote an article saying Iran was not our enemy. It was persuasively written at that. I admire General Jim Mattis greatly but apparently, he has harbored some feelings, maybe grudges, on Iran for over 30 years, something to watch.
Iran is involved in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, all of this is true, and they support Hezbollah and Hamas but that is fairly localized to that area.
Radical Salafists are after us all; US, Spain, Russia, China, everywhere.
Not taking sides one way or another, just found this article:
Uncovering the Hidden Truths of 9/11
Why we need to discuss more than just Saudi Arabia

Well, yesterday he said: “As far as Iran goes, this is the single biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world, Mattis said at a press conference in Tokyo on Saturday.”
So I was right; he is singling out Iran. Overall, it is not a surprise. Don’t know if he’s been holding a ‘grudge’. But it’s been very obvious the US won’t take a firm anti-Islamic terrorism stance with Saudi Arabia or their satellites. Not publicly anyway. Even as it’s been crystal clear they’ve been directly part of funding, training and supporting groups such as ISIS & yes even AQ, for years. Trade and other major considerations are involved, with Trump administration too, on individual, state and enterprise levels.
