Unfortunately George W. Bush has left us to deal with a legacy in a number of cases of decisions made for purposes of short-term expediency but with long-term consequences.

One of these was his constant and tireless selling of the idea that “Islam is a religion of peace.”

This was intended to assist in rounding up Muslim countries as allies in taking on the Taliban in Afghanistan and Saddam Hussein in Iraq and gaining sharing of intelligence of militant Muslims.

But he must have known he was peddling a falsehood. By repeating it so often and strongly he effectively disarmed the USA and Europe to the danger of Islam as an ideology, which is fundamentally incompatible with Western society and a mortal danger to our freedoms.

Maybe he thought everyone would see through what he was saying and realize he was just saying it for expediency.

But even his dippy daughter appears to have bought his b.s. hook, line and sinker, and it plays right into the propaganda of the anti-Western alliance between the Left and Islam.

GWB made that statement in the face of all historical evidence.
He was either lying for his Saudi patrons or he was the dumbest person ever to inhabit the Oval office.

I’m leaning towards the latter.
