which is why they wanna bring in as many radical Muslims as possible into the US.
It’s to do their dirty work; getting rid of the majority white Christian culture in America. Then the whitey libs will rule over all....or so they think. lol

It’s not crazy talk. What else are we to glean from the non stop onslaught of anti white, and in particular, anti white male hyperbole?

Tell you how I read it. The hard left is taking power in the Democrat party, forcing out all the moderates and hating on whites, men, heterosexuals, etc. Which is to say, they are further alienating themselves from mainstream America. Minimizing chances of ever taking power on a national scale again.

Is how I read the piece.

I think the article is saying the hard left will gain power in the DEM party not in the country. it’s not an anti Trump article.

Thanks for posting this.

It’s almost like the more “reasonable” Dems are akin to Kerensky who was overthrown by Lenin, and the radical Dems hope to bring about another October Revolution in America.

Yes, that’s exactly what the article is saying. I agree.
It’s pretty clear. :)

Kass is the Tribune’s answer to the Sun Times’ Royko (may he RIP). He’s not there yet, but he tries.

I used to read Mike Royko. He often said very sensible and reasonable things. He made sure everyone knew he was a Democrat, but he was a more sensible Democrat. One that could be reasoned with.

There were a bunch of other columnists I just ignored, but I would read Mike Royko.

“The problem for the republic in this Trump vs. “the media” fight is this:

With the American establishment collapsing under its own weight like some mad King George, attacked now by both the hard left and the nationalist right, there is one thing that is absolutely necessary:

The credibility of the media. But that credibility is lacking, isn’t it?”

The credibility of the media is absolutely necessary?

What bunk. It is only necessary to keep the establishment in power. The establishment has lost much power, and is in the process of losing more.

We are recreating a media that may be partisan, but is openly partisan.

Long live President Trump!

He was a hard leftist radical but most saw him as a moderate ‘nice’ guy because he SOLD himself that way.

The media sold him that way. If you listened to him or read the stuff he said, you quickly realized he was part of the old time Liberal religion, and not even slightly a moderate.

Obama was a product manufactured by the media.

Strange article. He never really gave any clue as to how Trump is going to make it possible for the left to get power. In fact if there’s any point to this article, I missed it.

This article is simply more of the same BS

The article is not BS. It makes a reasonable observation - that the Democratic party is being consumed by the rabid left which makes it difficult for Schumer to mount a "reasonable" opposition and makes it difficult for Schumer to defend the seats up for reelection.

This is an important point.

We need a loyal opposition. I trust GOPe with power not one wit more than I trust the democrats with power. I want an opposition that forces GOPe to keep its base happy and behind them. Otherwise we will just get the GOP that sold Gingrich's contract with America down the river the second they could grab all the goodies for themselves.

There are not goodies to be had anymore. It's save the country from at least 24 years of truly bad government, giving GHWB a pass, however arguably undeserved.

Believe it or not, I am thinking it is just a continuation of the Civil War. The armed struggle may have stopped, but the rhetoric never did.

I doubt it because the hard left has been in power for eight years with Obama.

It's not national power. It's control of the democratic party he is talking about. That is not nothing. In our system it gives republicans who want to break with Trump room to maneuver by doing deals with the democrats. Now those deals will be done with radical dems. Why? It's GOPe. They don't want to support Trump. They want what's good for them. They are weak, venal and corrupt. Never forget that.

I remember reading Royko. He was in one of our Cleveland papers when I was younger. A very enjoyable read if I recall. Good guy.

” “Because that’s what this wild, seething game is all about now: control of the Democratic Party, or what’s left of it”.

An EXCELLENT article;

They are destroying themselves.

I read it. Not insightful. His crying that the democrat moderates might be forced out, who exactly are these "moderates"?

And his whining about how media stories would be dismissed as partisan attacks, well, no duh, sweetheart.

You have run around crying wolf for the past 70 years and I would not believe you if you said it snowed in Alaska.
