No it was gas lighting to convince Trump suppporters they were alone in an island. No one thought like they did, they were all insane. Everyone supporter Hillary. She was going to win by a landslide if your thought outerwise you are insane.
Astroturfing is generally meant to mean a popular uprising, like the Tea Party, was really faked to make people believe the groundswell is real. A recent example might be the boycott of Rush Limbaugh's advertisers over his Sandra Fluke comments.
Gaslighting is in the vein of "who do you believe, me or your lying eyes?" We saw the difference in rally turnout but were told that Trump was universally hated. We saw debate performances but were told that Trump lost. We saw Trump everywhere and Clinton nowhere but were told she was just preparing.
So maybe they astroturfed the polls and gaslighted the coverage?
